It rises up too high though, and should it be made of steel so more rigid than aluminum? I'll modify this one or make a second one so that when the blade is all the way down, I can put a cover on the saw and have a work surface.

Diablo blades are sweet

how well does it work on limbs?

it’s not really a structural component, aluminum should be fine as long as it’s the width of the blade

Or at least that the fence side of the knife is flush wiht the fence side of the blade... I want this knife to actually be a hair thicker than the blade...

+1 almost chucked my old ryobi miter saw. Threw a diablo blade on. Re-squared the fence and adjusted the laser... it’s one of my fav tools now.

Where is the anti-kick back? I have a bunch of trim to do around some new windows so I bought a Skil Saw worm drive table saw. The safety features are so well integrated. Much better than the saws I had when I was younger.

I had a 12" dewalt miter saw and the blade you get is durable, but really suited for chopping 2x12s . Got a 90 tooth blade and it did all the trim without any post sanding.

There is one somewhere for this saw but I cannot find it. I got careless once and got kicked back right into my gut and it has caused a small hernia. Word to the wise.

It tends to destroy too much of the meat and bone unless the limb is frozen beforehand . Plus it makes a hell of a mess and can even jam the saw.
For the severing of limbs and general body dismemberment, I much prefer to use a band saw.

good choice
the local halal shop uses a band saw for lamb

Not too shabby of a first draft.

Thank you. What do you think about aluminum versus steel?

I’ve even got them in my 4.5” saws. I don’t sand anything I cut (unless it’s going to be exposed)

I also personally prefer knives that are slightly thicker from my limited experience but YMMV.
